Floristry Workshops


Learn in our relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere at The Florist Workshop.
Classes include the use of aprons, scissors, wires and tapes with additional materials available to purchase during the session, such as:
– cellophane
– ribbons
– containers
– foam
– various other decorative accessories
*Plastic free and sustainable materials also an option
Light refreshments included for all sessions in the relaxed and friendly workshop environment.

Half day workshops (Saturdays) – £45 pp

Create flowers for a loved one, a hobby, or a special forthcoming occasion. All flowers are included in this session. This workshop is subject to limited numbers due to availability.

*Special occasion group events available for weekends such as hen parties (flower crowns), birthdays, festivals or other occasions.


4 week workshop – £95 pp:

The 4 week floristry workshop is again designed to be easy to digest. It has been structured in sequential sessions to aid your development and make sure you walk away with techniques and knowledge not acquirable in the 1 day sessions, this will be represented by a certificate at the end of the 4th session. Flowers will be supplied for the first session only, All tools are provided for each session. 
These events will run in the evenings for your convenience from 6pm – 8.30pm
These are designed for beginners through to the more advanced florist to build confidence in purchasing and arranging flowers with a professional finish, harnessing tips and techniques from a qualified instructor. Arranging seasonal designs, wedding flowers, sustainable designs without foam, creating hand tied designs and simple table arrangements.

Workshop 1

Beginners workshop Thursday evenings March 5th – 26th 2020.
Session 1 – Flower preparation techniques to increase longevity of life, decorative finishes and boutonniere construction (Session 1 materials included).
Session 2 – Arrange and wrapping flowers using a selection of stylish materials (3 designs).
Session 3 – Master techniques for hand tied flowers and beautiful table centres.
Session 4 – Perfect your seasonal hand tied bouquet, packaged for a professional finish.

Workshop 2:

Rookie (beginners +) flower arranging workshop Thursday evenings 14th May – 04th June 2020.

Session 1 – Limited linear arrangement in a tin bucket style container, using bold and dramatic flowers (flowers supplied to purchase at £10.00 on the night).
Session 2 – Seasonal British summer flowers, hand tied making your own collar from fresh materials making the most of our environment.
Session 3 – Basket arrangement to be placed onto your coffee table (foam free environmentally friendly options available).
Session 4 – Front facing style arrangement for a corner of your home that you would like to brighten up (foam free environmentally friendly options available).


Workshop 3:

Wedding flower workshop (beginner)  Thursday evenings 11th June – 02nd July 2020.

Suitable for anyone who has completed workshops 1 & 2 at The Florist Workshop, or have some prior experience.

Session 1 – Simple corsage suitable for the Bride or Civil Partner, mother of the bride or attendants etc.
Session 2 – Small Jam Jar /similar hand tied of seasonal flowers for the tables. Dress your jam jars, discussing suitable options and create matching hand tied bridal bouquet of seasonal materials.
Session 3 – Small urn style arrangements for the table
Session 4 – Pew ends/ hand tied and in foam


Workshop 4:

Wedding flower workshop for the more advanced Thursday evenings 6th – 27th August 2020. 

Suitable for anyone who has completed the novice sessions at The Florist Workshop or those who have experience and want to brush up on the basics.

Session 1 – Festival flower crowns or circlet headdress for a bridesmaid.
Session 2 – Bridal Posy in foam bridal holder to include handle finish (foam free alternative available).
Session 3 – Top Table rustic crate style arrangement.
Session 4 – Thank you design of your choice for someone special.

Workshop 5:

4 weeks Harvest themes back to school : (Tuesday) 8th – 29th September 2020.

You will learn how to create a stunning seasonal design from your flowers, create hand tied design grouping for maximum impact, versatile techniques also focusing on colour form and texture for on trend designs.

Session 1 – Small urns/milk churns (tie them first then arrange).
Session 2 – Raised container all round design.
Session 3 – Seasonal hand tied flowers for your vase.
Session 4 – Harvest wreath for your door or table with a candle.

Workshop 6:

4 week Autumn session including plants, flowers for wellbeing & vibrant spooky Halloween and bewitching colourful designs (Tuesday)1st – 22nd October 2020. 

Session 1 – Sustainable design NO foam.
Session 2 – Plants and flowers pot ét fleur.
Session 3 – Seasonal design using twigs, branches and simple structures.
Session 4 – Halloween pumpkin.


Additional Thursday evening workshops (6pm – 8.30pm) – £45 pp per session:

Seasonal flower & Christmas workshops NOW BOOKING – Getting festive: (2 sessions 19 & 26h November 2020). All materials included, simply turn up and enjoy!

Session 1 – Topiary designs 
Session 2 – Festive table designs.
Deck the halls for Christmas: 3rd-17th December 2020 (3 sessions).
Session 1 – Flowers arranged in a decorative gift box
Session 2 – Swag for your fireplace, arch or door.
Session 3 – Door wreath


Advanced workshops:

Advanced workshop introduction:

Due to the nature of the floristry industry, experience and subjects to cover in an advanced workshop will vary for each person or business interested in furthering their knowledge.

For this reason all advanced classes are bespoke to the individual(s) looking to attend and will require an initial discovery call.

By managing the advanced workshops this way, you can be rest assured that you will be taking away more skills and knowledge than you started the day with.

Advanced practitioner – £150 pp:

Saturday (10:00- 15:00) – maximum of 4 people
Bridal bouquet designs
– Freestanding and hanging pew markers
– Large basket designs
– Large event flowers
– Pedestal arrangements
– Flower arches
– Large Milk Churn designs
– Standing Pew ends and hanging screen designs
*Bespoke designs possible on request. The focus will be on the principles and elements of design concentrating on colour, form, space, texture and line (elements). Proportion, balance, scale, rhythm. contrast, dominance and harmony (principles).
