Floristry Workshops

Introduction

 
Learn in our relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere at The Florist Workshop. No previous floristry experience is required as step by step tuition is provided by qualified tutor.
 
Workshop sessions provide all materials required including aprons, scissors and sundries such as:
– cellophane
– ribbons
– containers
– foam/moss/wire
– other decorative accessories
 
*Preference in the use of Sustainable materials for designs can be discussed at the time of booking
 
Light refreshments included for all sessions in the relaxed and friendly workshop environment.

 

2025/6 Workshops:

Half day workshops (Saturdays)

Create flowers for a loved one, a hobby, or a special forthcoming occasion.  All flowers are included in these 1/2 day sessions. Suitable for all abilities, no floristry knowledge required.

4 week Floristry Workshops:

The 4 week floristry workshops designed to be easy to digest. Structured in sequential sessions to aid your development and make sure you walk away with techniques and knowledge not achievable in the short sessions, on completion you will be awarded a certificate of achievement. Tools, equipment and light refreshments are provided. Flowers will be supplied for the first sessions only.
 
These events will run on Tuesday evenings from 6pm – 8.00pm
 
These sessions are designed for beginners through to the more advanced florist to build confidence in purchasing and arranging flowers with a professional finish, harnessing tips and techniques from a qualified tutor. Arranging seasonal designs, wedding flowers, Eco-friendly designs, hand tied designs and simple table arrangements.

Wedding Workshop (£130):

Tuesday evenings 13th January – 03rd February 2026.

Suitable for those who have completed beginners or rookie workshops, or those who have some prior floristry experience.

Session 1 – Simple range of corsages/wristlets suitable for the Bride or Civil Partner, mother of the bride or attendants.
Session 2 – Hand tied designs for varied uses (bride to table).
Session 3 – Arrangement designs for top table
Session 4 – Pew end designs

Eco-friendly Workshop (£130):

Tuesday Evenings 17th February – 10th March 2026

Suitable for those who have completed beginners workshops or who have existing floristry skills. Eco-Friendly and sustainable floristry designs including plant & flower colourful designs, 

Session 1 – Sustainable designs (utilising locally sourced materials).
Session 2 – Eco-friendly designs (utilising biodegradable techniques and mediums).
Session 3 – Seasonal design using twigs, branches and simple structures.
Session 4 – Small Installation design.

Beginners Workshop (£130):

Tuesday evenings 08th September – 29th September 2026.
 
Session 1 – Flower preparation techniques to increase longevity of life, decorative finishes and boutonniere construction (Session 1 materials included).
Session 2 – Arrange and wrapping flowers using a selection of stylish materials (3 designs).
Session 3 – Master techniques for hand tied flowers and beautiful table centres.
Session 4 – Perfect your seasonal hand tied bouquet, packaged for a professional finish.

Beginners Plus Workshop (£130):

Tuesday evenings 06th October – 27th October 2026.

Session 1 – Limited linear arrangement using bold and dramatic flowers (Session 1 materials included).
Session 2 – Seasonal flowers, hand tied making your own collar from fresh materials, making the most of our environment.
Session 3 – Basket arrangement to be placed onto your coffee table (foam free environmentally friendly options available).
Session 4 – Halloween themed front facing style arrangement (foam free environmentally friendly options available).
 

Bespoke Wedding Workshops (POA) :

Wedding flower workshops for the DIY Bride.  Evening Dates upon request. 

Suitable for anyone who wishes to create their own wedding flowers.

Session 1 – Flower selection, purchasing & conditioning plan (including your design/planning consultation). 
Session 2 – Bridal Bouquet design (Eco-Friendly alternative available).
Session 3 – Top Table arrangement designs.
Session 4 – Thank you design of your choice for someone special.

 

Bespoke Saturday workshops (10:00 – 14:00) – POA:

Advanced Workshops – POA:

Due to the nature of the floristry industry, experience and subjects covered in advanced workshops will vary for each person or business, these sessions can contributed towards individual CPD.

For this reason all advanced classes are tailored to the individual(s) and will require an initial discovery call.

By managing the advanced workshops this way, you can be confident that you will be taking away more skills and knowledge than you started the day with.

Bridal bouquet designs
– Freestanding and hanging pew markers
– Large basket designs
– Large event flowers (installations)
– Pedestal arrangements
– Flower arches/Moon gates/Nude Arches
Pillars
– Large Milk Churn designs
– Standing Pew ends and hanging screen designs
 
*The focus will be on the principles and elements of design, concentrating on colour, form, space, texture and line (elements). Proportion, balance, scale, rhythm. contrast, dominance and harmony (principles).
